Overview
Attack, Strength, and Defence are all trained in similar ways through combat. Strength can be trained slowly through barbarian fishing , or Barbarian Gathering and Defence can also be trained with Ranged or Magic while on the defensive combat style.
Notable training methods
In Demonic Pacts League, combat can be trained almost everywhere. The following are notable methods that take advantage of relics, boosted minigame points, or are otherwise notable for training.
- Gemstone Crab in
Varlamore✓ provides consistent 10 minute intervals of combat training with very little risk.
- Sand crabs across
Kourend✓, or around
Varlamore✓, and rock crabs found across
Fremennik✓ can be a non-intensive method for training combat skills at a low level. This is particularly effective when combined with Thorns pacts.
- Sulphur Nagua
require
48 Slayer. Nagua have negative flat armour and can reach very high xp/hr rates if using double hitting weapons such as the dual macuahuitl with the blood moon armour or Infernal tecpatl.
- Vyrewatch
can be found close to a bank and are aggressive to players not wearing the vyre noble clothing. They can only be damaged with the Ivandis flail or blisterwood flail.
- Bandits found in the
Desert✓ are aggressive to players wearing Saradomin or Zamorakian items.
- Walking back and forth with defensive gear and thorns pacts in Kruk's Dungeon
yields extremely high XP rates due to the high density of maniacal monkeys in multicombat. Walking yields up to about 40 million melee XP/hr, while standing still yields around 15 million. A light source is required.
Demonic Pacts
Melee combat is enhanced by unique methods in the Demonic Pacts tree: defensive oriented nodes that deal damage to enemies with the thorns effect, nodes that increase attack speed with light-weight weapons (less than 1kg in weight) and improve special attack energy generation, and nodes that deal damage through bonus attacks with heavy weapons (greater than 1kg) through an effect called blindbag.
The first thorn node available requires an equipped shield and provides an effect to instantly deal 3 melee damage to attacks when you take 0 damage. Other nodes in the defensive side of the tree provide boosts to the thorns effect by increasing the player's defence level, increasing thorns damage, and providing hitpoints and prayer points restoration. The thorns capstone causes it to always trigger twice, dealing 50% damage in the second hit.
The light-weight oriented nodes provide power through a guaranteed additional hit which can do 40% of your base max hit, an attack speed increase by 1 tick (0.6 seconds), and a percentage boost to melee strength based on Strength level. There are also many special attack oriented nodes providing increased generation or a chance to not consume special attack energy. The capstone grants 2% special attack energy restoration per hit with a melee weapon.
The heavy-weight nodes mostly affect 2-handed weapons with increased attack range and power through an effect called blindbag. The effect has a base 15% chance to trigger an instant attack with a random heavy melee weapon in the player's inventory, as if they had equipped it themselves. The attack can trigger additional blindbag attacks as well. There is a major node that also provides a 5% chance to trigger a ranged echo effect, which is an additional attack which rolls against the target's melee defence and counts as a melee attack. The Three nodes in the ranged section of the tree also affect the ranged echo via the following: the bow node causes all ranged echoes to never miss, the crossbow node improves the chance of a ranged echo by +15%, and the thrown weapon node causes ranged echoes to have a 20% chance to max hit. Although the bow, crossbow, and thrown weapon nodes are in the ranged section, they do affect the ranged echoes caused by melee hits. There is also an additional major node in the ranged tree that allows ranged echoes to trigger additional echoes at 50% of the base chance. The chance for a blindbag attack can be further increased with a major node that adds a 2% chance per heavy weapon in the inventory, up to a maximum of 10%. The capstone node for blindbag attacks adds a 2% max hit to the blindbag attack for each heavy weapon in the inventory up to 10%.
The final capstone exclusively affects halberds by giving them an attack range of 7 and setting attack speed to 5 ticks (3 seconds).
