Cerberus (Echo) is a Master difficulty variant of Cerberus that is accessible during the Demonic Pacts League. To fight her the player must carry an Asgarnia echo orb, which is dropped by regular Cerberus. The echo version does not require a Slayer task to fight.

The unique drop of Echo Cerberus is the fang of the hound, a dagger that has a chance to cast a powerful fire spell.

Mechanics

During the fight Cerberus (Echo) will use three different attacks:

  • Attack Styles - Her regular attack uses a single style for eight attacks. They start with magic, circling through magic, ranged, and melee in that order.
  • Lava Pools - Every fourth and eighth attack she will instead summon two lava pools away from the player, which spread in a line towards and meet where the player stood at the start of the attack. These lava pools last approximately 2 minutes, and deal considerable and rapid damage if stood on. The pools also deal heavy damage, around 50, if hit by them as they spread.
  • Summoned Souls - After each eighth attack—second lava pool—or when damaged below half health, she will summon three rows of ghosts. Each row has a melee (red), ranged (green), and magic (blue) ghost, in a random order, all of whom deal 30 damage but can be prayed against to fully negate it. Unlike the regular Cerberus' ghosts, they do not drain prayer. Each row will attack west to east, followed by the row behind it. While the ghosts attack, Cerberus will continue her usual cycle of regular attacks and lava pools.

Strategy

  • Attack Styles - The switch in combat styles is always marked by her howling animation for summoning the souls, so players might find it easier to tell when it is going to happen by keeping track of when she summons her souls.
  • Lava Pools - As the lava pools spread in a straight line toward the player, dodging them only requires walking in any direction other than towards one of the existing or new lava pools. The pools can only spread from orthogonals or diagonals, so if the player moves in an over-two-up-one direction (as a knight moves in chess) they will always be safe. If melee players are not able to kill Cerberus (Echo) before running into space issues, walking a few tiles away or under her before the attack can buy time.
  • Summoned Souls - As soon as a ghost starts their animation, even if the damage or lack thereof has not registered yet, it has been decided by the game and the protection prayer should be changed to match the next ghost immediately. Their damage can pile up far quicker than that of Cerberus (Echo), leading to death within a couple of seconds, so it is advisable to focus on praying only against them to avoid mistakes. However, do remember to dodge the lava pools Cerberus (Echo) will summon while the ghosts attack. Alternatively, with Eternal Sustenance, it is possible to pray against the style Cerberus is using to block her attacks and the attacks of one of the ghosts per set, while rapidly combo eating to survive the ghosts.

Drops

Cerberus (Echo) rolls the same drops as regular Cerberus, in addition to a roll for her unique echo item.
