Demonic Pacts League/New player guide

Welcome to the Demonic Pacts League! This guide is aimed primarily at those who have never participated in one of the Leagues before and are looking for an overview of what the league is, how it works, and how to play.

For more specific info, many guides are available from the main Demonic Pacts League page.

Intro to Leagues

Leagues are temporary game modes that are run roughly once every 12-18 months for about two months. Only members can participate in Leagues, but you do not need to buy additional membership to participate. The goal in Leagues is to complete various tasks to earn points that can be used to unlock powerful buffs in the League, as well as redeemed in the main game for various rewards. During Leagues, your league character will have significantly boosted experience rates and various other benefits, but will be limited to only a few regions.

The Demonic Pacts League begins on 15 April 2026 and ends 10 June 2026.

Getting started

The Demonic Pacts League is played using your regular Old School RuneScape account, but on dedicated worlds just for the league. To access the league, log in to one of the dedicated league worlds, or log in like normal and choose a league world from the World Switcher tab.

On these worlds only, the first time you log in, your character will be reset to a fresh account and you will go through a brief tutorial on the Demonic Pacts League. You will spawn in a new area, Yama's Lair, where you can learn more about the league, receive some useful items from the Leagues Tutor, and pick your first relic and pact. (More information about these below.)

In the league, your character will be an Ironman, meaning you will be unable to trade with other players and only able to receive drops from most monsters if you kill them alone--with the exception of most bosses. You will begin locked to the region of Varlamore, but with several automatically-completed quests to give you access to certain skills and items otherwise only available outside of Varlamore--like Druidic Ritual so you can train Herblore and Fairytale II so you can use fairy rings to access Zanaris and the Abyssal Area. All other areas in the game will not be accessible from the start.

Note: if you played a previous league, any pets earned in that league can be reclaimed in Yama's Lair! All other stats and achievements from that league will have been wiped.

The wiki includes many useful guides for tasks, areas, and so on. To get the most out of the wiki, click the link={{{1}}} Demonic Pacts League icon at the top of any wiki page. From here, you can easily access League guide pages and also select the regions you currently have access to. This will allow pages to dynamically display information based on your regions.

Additionally, installing the WikiSync plugin for RuneLite will allow the wiki to pull and display information about your account progress on the wiki. During Leagues, this will show information about the league version of your character specifically.

Leagues interface

The Demonic Pacts League tab of the Character Summary panel

Leagues has several dedicated interfaces that you will use throughout the game mode. The main location for Leagues info can be found in the Character Summary panel, which will have a new tab for everything Leagues-related.

This tab will show the number of tasks you have completed and points you have earned, as well as progress towards unlocking a new region and relic. Buttons on the page will open the interfaces for areas, tasks, demonic pacts, and relics. At the bottom, you can see your Leagues rank (with higher ranks being earned through more points) and a summary of your character's progress.

The Leagues Area interface

The Areas interface displays a map showing all of the regions in the game. Any currently-unlocked regions will be red, with locked regions being grayed out. At the top of the screen, the progress bar indicates how many tasks you have completed and how many more are needed to unlock another region.

You can also use this screen to teleport to any of your unlocked regions by clicking the banner for that region.

The Leagues Tasks interface

The Tasks interface works similarly to the Combat Achievements interface. The number in the title bar is the number of tasks completed out of the total available. Below that, the colored bar shows task points remaining until your next relic unlock.

Clicking any task will expand it to show additional detail. Tasks can be filtered by tier of difficulty, type, area, etc. The Pacts filter can be used to find tasks that grant pact points for unlocking Demonic Pacts.

The Demonic Pacts interface

The Demonic Pacts interface shows the skill tree of pacts. You will unlock the central node during the Leagues Tutorial, and additional nodes can be unlocked as pact points are earned. The Active Pact Information button will show a description of the benefits from all the pacts already unlocked.

The Relics interface, showing an overview of all relics
The Relics interface, showing details for a specific relic

The Relics interface can be used to view your current relics and unlock new ones. The colored bar shows the number of task points earned, relative to the amount needed to unlock each relic tier. Clicking any relic will open a detailed description of that relic.

On the detail screen, the Passive Effects section will show the passive effects you gain upon unlocking any relic in that tier. Relic information can always be viewed, even if the relic is locked or can't be chosen.

Tasks

Completing tasks within a league is the primary way to progress. Tasks are split into five tiers, each awarding a different amount of points, scaling roughly with increasing difficulty:

  • Easy tasks each award 10 points - e.g. "Defeat a Chicken."
  • Medium tasks each award 30 points - e.g. "Cast Low Level Alchemy"
  • Hard tasks each award 80 points - e.g. "Burn some magic logs"
  • Elite tasks each award 200 points - e.g. "Make a super combat potion"
  • Master tasks each award 400 points - e.g. "Reach level 95 in every skill"

Some tasks are general and available in all regions, but most are specific to one region only. All combinations of regions have the same total number of points available from tasks, but some regions may have easier or more difficult tasks.

Both breadth and depth are important when considering which tasks to work towards, as both the number of points obtained and the total overall number of tasks completed offer benefits.

Points obtained from task completion work towards unlocking tiers of relics, which give you powerful buffs, which can make other tasks easier or faster to complete.

Reaching new milestone number of tasks completed unlocks a new region, which in turn will unlock more possible tasks for completion.

When looking to decide which tasks to work on, it can be beneficial to look at completion rates for tasks on the tasklist, as tasks with high rates of completion are likely quite easy to complete.

Points obtained from task completion also dictate which trophy you will be awarded at the end of the League (from Bronze to Dragon) and how many points you will have available to spend in the Leagues Reward Shop for various cosmetic unlocks.

Region locking

A core component of Leagues is that all areas of the map are not accessible to all players. In Demonic Pacts League, all players start in Varlamore (with access to Zanaris and the Abyssal Area through the use of fairy rings) and cannot leave through any means. Through completing milestone numbers of tasks, access to Karamja can be unlocked for all players, and up to three additional regions of player choice can be unlocked from:

At present, Sailing is not accessible in Leagues and ocean areas cannot be accessed. Misthalin is also not available. Region unlocks are permanent and cannot be undone or reset.

The regions a player has available to them dictate the skilling methods, resources, bosses and minigames a player has available to them, and should be considered carefully. Reviewing the notable unlocks in each region to decide which is right for you is recommended.

Relics

Relics are powerful buffs, obtained at various point milestones. When a new relic tier is reached, three relics can be chosen between from that tier. For example, in the Demonic Pacts League tutorial, the following three relics must be chosen between:

  • Barbarian Gathering - obtain the Knapsack, which carries up to 140 items. You become capable of chopping wood, mining rocks and fishing with your bare hands without requiring any tools or bait.
  • Endless Harvest - You can endlessly gather from fishing spots, trees, and mining rocks even if they deplete after your initial interaction. Resources and experience gathered from Fishing, Woodcutting, and Mining is doubled.
  • Abundance - All non-combat skills are permanently boosted by 10. Every time you receive an XP drop, gain an additional 2 XP in the same skill. For every XP gained, gain 2x as many coins.

Regardless of the relic chosen, at least one passive effect is typically unlocked for each relic tier. This typically includes experience and drop rate multipliers, to speed up gameplay, along with passive effects such as unlimited run energy, uncapped numbers of scroll boxes, and more superior slayer monster spawns.

Relic unlocks are permanent and cannot be undone or reset. It is important to consider them carefully, and it may be helpful to consider the synergies between the activities you have available to you and particular relics, or the shortfalls you may have from being region locked, along with what you enjoy as a player.

For example, Barbarian Gathering works well for players who will never have crystal or dragon tools, and Endless Harvest is a strong pick for those who enjoy low intensity gameplay as no moving between resources is required. Abundance is a great option for those looking for an early, constant source of coins and an immediate boost to be able to access higher level resources and equipment sooner.

Each relic tier should offer relics of roughly similar power levels and there is no choice which is truly incorrect, but picking what you can use to your advantage is important.

Demonic Pacts

Demonic Pacts are a system of unlocks, akin to Relics, purely for combat related boosts. These take the form of a skill tree, split loosely into Magic, Ranged, and Melee related boosts, with 130 individual nodes to choose from, and up to 40 nodes can be chosen. Boosts empower players in various ways, such as increasing the damage dealt with elemental spells, varying weapon attack speed, boosting Magic, Strength or Defence levels, increased accuracy, or increasing the minimum hit of particular weapons.

Pacts are unlocked through Pact Points, with each point being awarded after completion of particular tasks. These vary from simply defeating a Hill Giant to end-game accomplishments such as equipping an infernal cape. Accordingly, newer players should expect to have fewer points available than those with more experience in the game when planning out their pacts.

Pacts can be completely reset up to three times within the League, after killing one, two, or three echo bosses. Players who aren't expecting to attempt the echo boss fights should consider a path that does not require resetting Pacts at a later date.

Pacts can be seen in more detail through the following:

Echo bosses

Each region contains one Echo Boss encounter, which is a stronger and more complex variant of a normal boss. These are Leagues-exclusive fights, unlocked with an Echo orb, which can be obtained from killing the standard variant of the boss at random.

Echo bosses reward unique weapons and armour specific to Leagues, and killing one, two, or three echo bosses also increase the number of resets available for Demonic Pacts.

The unique drops vary for each boss, and typically lean into each region's identity or strengths. For example, Varlamore's Echo Boss, Echo Amoxliatl, drops the Infernal tecpatl, a demonbane multi-hit weapon with Stab, Slash and Crush attack styles, which is a strong choice for the Moons of Peril.

Echo boss uniques have Dry Protection, and are always guaranteed after reaching twice the drop rate for the item.
