Blue moon armour is a set of magic equipment that requires level 75 Magic and 50 Defence to equip, which is obtained as a possible reward from the Lunar Chest in Neypotzli.
The helm, chestplate and tassets each gives a 1% Magic damage bonus for a total of 3%.
Set effect
Frostweaver: Gives the Blue moon spear a chance to perform a melee attack instantly, without any action delays, after the player casts a spell that would bind, freeze or root a target.
- 20% chance to occur after successfully casting a Bind spell from the Standard spellbook or an Ice spell from the Ancient spellbook, even if it does not bind a target.
- 50% chance to occur after successfully casting a Grasp spell from the Arceuus spellbook, even if it does not bind a target.
This attack can be performed automatically by enabling it in the combat options menu. When automatically performed, this attack can hit targets across diagonal spaces and over small fences or walls.
It is possible for the set effect to activate even if one or more of the armour pieces are broken.
Strategy
An effective strategy is to autocast Grasp spells from the Arceuus spellbook with Mark of Darkness active. This results in a unique dual-combat style where a player gets one instant and free melee attack for roughly every 2 spells that land. This can be particularly effective in PvP encounters with lots of chasing or on monsters with low melee and magic defences.
When the special attack is used while casting movement impairing attack spells, the next activation of the Frostweaver effect will also trigger the special allowing for a 3-hit combo that starts with the spell cast and ends with the melee hit from the Frostweaver effect. Additionally, the damage from the Special attack and the melee attack from Frostweaver count toward Strength experience despite the animations for the special attack being Fend and the Frostweaver hit being Jab.
Repair
Blue moon armour degrades, being usable for 45 hours of continuous combat until it breaks, after which it must be repaired, similar to other Moon equipment.
Having an NPC such as Bob and Dunstan repair a fully broken armour piece costs 1,500,000 coins each, while repairing a piece yourself at an armour stand adds a discount of 7,500 coins per Smithing level, reducing the price to 757,500 coins at level 99. Boosting to level 104 by using an orange stew, the price is reduced to 720,000 coins. Repairing all 3 pieces of the set will cost 4,500,000 coins with an NPC down to 2,160,000 coins with boosting at an armour stand.
For some pieces, it may be cheaper to simply buy another than it is to repair.
