Moonlight grub paste is made by using a pestle and mortar on moonlight grubs, which are picked from grubby saplings within Neypotzli. Players can sometimes receive multiple paste from one grub, depending on their Herblore level.

Moonlight grub paste can be combined with a vial of water to create moonlight potions, which can be used as a potion whilst fighting the Moons of Peril to provide melee skill boosts and prayer restoration. Players may create an extra dose of potion, with the chance depending on the player's Herblore level.

Additionally, one moonlight grub paste is requested by Eyatlalli during Perilous Moons.

When leaving Neypotzli this item is removed from the player's inventory with the message: The resources from Neypotzli fizzle to dust as they are severed from its magic.
