A master scroll box is a Scroll box that gives players a master clue scroll when opened. Upon completion of X Marks the Spot, scroll boxes are obtained in place of clue scrolls, and are stackable up to a certain limit depending on the number of master clue completions.
If a clue scroll is already in the player's inventory or bank, players will receive the message, The clue box refuses to open - you already have a clue.
Stack limits
Players can only hold a limited number of scroll boxes and scrolls; upon completion of X Marks the Spot, where scroll boxes first become available to the player, this cap starts at 2. Reading the Treasure Trail Statistics board in Watson's house allows one to see their own caps.
This cap can be increased to a maximum of 5 by opening scroll cases, which each increase the cap by 1, and are received from completing certain milestones:
- Minor master scroll case - rewarded upon opening the player's 25th master reward casket.
- Major master scroll case - rewarded upon opening the player's 75th casket.
- Mimic scroll case - rewarded upon defeating the Mimic.

Trivia
- Scroll boxes were first featured during Leagues; during the Trailblazer League players needed Treasure Seeker in order to obtain scroll boxes, however since Shattered Relics, it is a passive given to all players.
