The thunder khopesh was an unlock in the Grid Master community event. After the player builds a demonic throne in their player-owned house, the player is given the thunder khopesh.

It has a passive effect that grants standard, successful hits a 20% chance to summon a delayed lightning bolt at the target's location, damaging enemies in a 3x3 area for up to 50% of the player's max hit. The lightning bolt will be summoned at the centre of the target's location at the time the effect was triggered.

The lightning does not roll accuracy checks, but it is possible for enemies to move out of the effect between the attack triggering and the attack striking, causing them to avoid the damage entirely. No experience is gained from the damage dealt by the lightning bolts.

It is a corpbane weapon, meaning it does full damage to the Corporeal Beast.

The thunder khopesh has a special attack, Lingering Lightning, which consumes 50% of the wielder's special attack energy. The special attack deals two hits in quick succession; if either of these is a successful hit, an additional lightning bolt is summoned that deals damage up to 100% of the player's maximum hit. Aside from a guaranteed chance to trigger and a much higher max hit, the mechanics of the lightning bolt from the special attack are otherwise identical to the lightning bolt from the passive effect.

This item appeared in a previous temporary event, with the following differences from its latest incarnation:

• Raging Echoes League
  • The khopesh was dropped by the Echo King Black Dragon at a rate of 1/25.
  • The special attack had the same official description, but dealt much higher damage than described: the initial two hitsplats had a 50% increased maximum hit, and the subsequent lightning bolt dealt up to 225% of the player's maximum hit.
