The Echo harpoon is an item that could be obtained during the Grid Master community event by unlocking the Animal Wrangler relic.

The echo harpoon had no requirement to use or equip, and functioned as a non-degradable version of the crystal harpoon. In addition, it had the following other benefits:

• On failing to fish a spot, there was be a separate 50% chance to succeed.
• Any items gathered from Fishing (apart from Raw Karambwanji, which are stackable) were automatically sent to the player's bank.
• Attempted to catch fish 1 tick faster.
• Acted as a net, big net, lobster pot, or any rod whilst fishing (appropriate bait is still required).

The echo harpoon also had a toggle-able effect:

• Fish caught had a 50% chance to be automatically cooked, granting Cooking experience regardless of level requirements.

The echo harpoon had the same special attack as the dragon harpoon and crystal harpoon, Fishstabber, that provided a visible +3 boost to Fishing, consuming 100% special attack energy.

Also note that any levels boosted above 99 with the special attack were treated as 99. Therefore, you will start to receive diminishing returns with the special attack at level 97 and 98, with there being no value in activating the special attack at level 99.

This item appeared in a previous temporary event, with the following differences from its latest incarnation:

• Raging Echoes League
  • The echo harpoon was obtained by selecting the Animal Wrangler tier 1 relic.
  • Free-to-play players could not participate in the League.
• The trailblazer harpoon was a very similar item used in previous events.

• Using the echo harpoon's special attack causes the model to turn into that of the trailblazer harpoon from the original Trailblazer League.

• Although the echo harpoon acts as a rod for catching fish, it does not work for retrieving your pet rock from the geyser during The Fremennik Exiles.
