Felling axes are 2-handed tools used in the Woodcutting skill. When used with Forester's rations in their inventory or inside their Forestry kit they offer 10% more Woodcutting experience than regular axes while also having a 20% chance to not obtain a log. Note that felling axes can use Forester's rations even if the felling axe is not wielded. This effect will also apply to sulliusceps. One ration is consumed every time the player completes an action (e.g. receiving a log or extra Woodcutting experience). The experience boost stacks multiplicatively with the lumberjack outfit. When missing out on receiving a log, a roll for the beaver pet will still be made.[1] If the player has no Forester's rations, the felling axe will function like a regular axe of the same tier.
Felling axes chop wood at the same tick frequency and have the same success rates as their standard counterparts. Higher-tier axes have a greater chance of obtaining logs from a tree and thus are generally faster to woodcut with. However, with a high Woodcutting level, a 100% success rate at certain low-level trees becomes attainable even with lower-tier axes.
Felling axes up to dragon can be created at an anvil by using a felling axe handle on a regular axe with a hammer in the inventory. Creating a felling axe this way provides the player with 5 Smithing experience. The crystal felling axe can be created by using a felling axe handle on a crystal axe while standing near a singing bowl, or by singing a dragon felling axe into a crystal felling axe with a crystal tool seed. Combining an axe and a felling axe handle will permanently turn the axe into a felling axe. All felling axes except the crystal felling axe are tradeable.
Similarly to their standard counterparts, felling axes classify as melee weapons. They have higher attack bonuses than their standard counterparts, but with a lower attack speed, and are 2-handed.

Trivia
- Animation stall is possible with felling axes, making the player appear 1-2 spaces away from the tree (or facing a different direction) while chopping. This is not possible with standard axes.
- One reliable way to achieve this is, with run enabled, stand 1 tile away from the tree; click the tile next to the tree; click 2 tiles away from the tree; then click the tree.
- To appear to face a different direction, first cause an animation stall using the above method; then click a tile which is both next to the player's true tile and next to the tree (tree must be 2x2 or larger); then click the tree. This method works approximately half of the time.
