If fewer than ten players are participating, one giant boulder will spawn in the mine's central channel. If there are ten or more players, a boulder will spawn in both the east and west channels. With twenty or more present, a boulder will spawn in all three channels.
The boulder has a set amount of "hitpoints" that scales with number of players in the game, approximately 40 HP per player for all stages except the final small boulder which has 60 HP. Each time a player mines it, it loses 1 HP. When its hitpoints reach 0, the boulder shrinks and floats north to the next resting spot.
Unlike the larger boulders, players deal boosted damage to the small boulder if there are any other players in the game not mining it.
Should players manage to completely mine the boulder, it will fall into a lava vortex at the northern end of the mine, and all players will earn an additional 100 points.
When an ore fragment is rolled, the likelihood of obtaining each fragment type varies with Mining level. Bear in mind only invisible boosts provide improvements over level 99:
