Spine mushrooms can be found throughout the Tar Swamp on Fossil Island. There is a chance when passing by a spine mushroom for it to deal 10 damage to the player and inflict poison, which starts hitting for 5 damage. As they are often in the paths where players chop Sulliusceps, some food and a way of curing poison is recommended when chopping Sulliuscep mushrooms.
This object is four tiles wide meaning it is impossible to Run trick over its attacking zone.
It is possible to decrease the chance of being hit by waiting on the corner of the four tile range, then after the bob animation occurs running past. This reduces the need for anti-poison potions when a players chops Sulliusceps, if done correctly.
Only six of these mushrooms can attack the player, which can be differentiated by a wiggling animation:
- The mushroom west of the first Sulliuscep that the player chops
- The mushroom south of the first Sulliuscep that the player chops
- The mushroom west of the second Sulliuscep
- The mushroom west of the Tar Swamp's Magic Mushtree
- The mushroom west of the third Sulliuscep
- The mushroom south-east of the third Sulliuscep
