The profit rate assumes 1200 kills per hour. Your actual profits may be higher or lower depending on your speed and luck. Dying to PKers significantly reduces profit.
Zombie pirates are found in the Wilderness at the Chaos Temple (Wilderness). They reside in low-level Wilderness in multi-combat, constantly in combat with elder chaos druids. Both will constantly aggress the player, and the druids will repeatedly cast Tele Block.
Zombie pirates have a lucrative drop table, including alchables, runes, blighted supplies, and the very rare zombie champion scroll. They are the only monsters to drop the stackable adamant seeds, zombie pirate keys, which can be used at the zombie pirate's locker, and very rarely the teleport anchoring scroll. When on a zombie slayer task from Krystilia, they may also drop Larran's keys.
General strategy
A burning amulet can be used to quickly reach the Chaos Temple. Due to the dangerous nature of the area, shorter trips and frequent banking are advised. Pray Protect from Magic at all times to avoid taking damage from the chaos druids.
Place a cannon at the spot shown on the map. It will kill zombie pirates and elder chaos druids at approximately a 4.5:1 ratio.
Using the altar to restore prayer is an option, but potions may be preferable due to the time it takes to run to the altar and back cutting into potential profits.
In the event of an attack by PKers, abandon the cannon and choose an escape route:
- Directly south, over the bridge towards the Wilderness ditch.
- North then south-east to cross the stepping stone shortcut (requiring level 72 Agility) if you are situated at the north side of the Chaos temple.
- Running north-west to Ferox Enclave is not recommended, as PKers often come in pairs and block this route.
Gear setup
Upon arriving, placing the cannon and disposing of burning amulet will open 5 inventory slots to alchemize loot. All other unstackable loot can be added to a closed looting bag. The druids commonly drop herbs, so it is recommended to also bring an herb sack. Air and law runes are useful for casting telekinetic grab to save time collecting loot, and can also double as a Camelot teleport for banking.
A venator bow works especially well in this area due to its low risk and ability to hit multiple targets.
Dying with this setup costs around 1,813,767 coins in total: 530,000 to repair the Elite Void Knight equipment, 883,767 to re-obtain the rune pouch, and approximately 400,000 to replace lost supplies. The herb sack and salve amulet(ei) will go to a gravestone with no fee, but its contents will be granted to the player killer. Running further north past level 20 Wilderness is not advised, as the player would lose unprotected and non-locked items or pay a large fee for locked items.
Locking a rune pouch with a trouver parchment is highly recommended, as a regular (non-locked) rune pouch is always lost on death to a player, even below level 20 Wilderness.
A large portion of risk (from 2.5m down to about 1m) can be mitigated by not bringing a locked rune pouch at the expense of 3 inventory slots. In that case it is advised to bank more frequently. The blessed Dizana's quiver and venator ring can also be downgraded to an assembler and ring of the gods (i), although both items will be protected upon death regardless. Upgrading boots is not advised as it poses only marginal benefit, yet increases risk by 250k gp by protecting over one Void item.
