Important: Depending on your Mining level and associated mining equipment, approximately half of the time investment performing this activity will be spent mining Tainted essence chunks.
This guide assumes you have at least level 98 Runecraft to receive 3 sunfire runes per essence. With lower Runecraft levels, your profit will be approximately two thirds of the listed amounts. Profit may also vary depending on your inventory setup, overall speed and efficiency, and the current exchange rates of both sunfire runes and Sunfire splinters.
In order to obtain Twisted extracts, you must have completed Desert Treasure II up to the point where you have visited the Scar and disturbed all three passages, thus opening access to the Scar essence mine. While sunfire runes can be crafted without the use of Twisted extracts, the profit potential is significantly lower, even resulting in a net loss much of the time, so it is not recommended.
Players are advised to obtain the Raiments of the Eye for their passive effect which grants a bonus of 60% additional runes crafted. Note that this does not apply to the additional runes created with Twisted extracts, only to the base runes.
The closest bank to a Shrine of Ralos is the one to the west of the Bazaar; running between this bank and the shrine, which is just south-east of the Bazaar, results in approximately 60 seconds per trip. Faster methods to reach a shrine may include the use of Renu to travel between the bank at Auburnvale and the shrine at Outer Fortis, or using a close teleport to a bank, such as a Crafting cape, in conjunction with a Quetzal whistle for quick access to Renu. With perfect execution, these methods can be nearly twice as fast as the simple run-between method. Accordingly, this guide uses an estimated 30 seconds per trip based on the use of a Max cape for banking and to negate the degradation of pouches and a Perfected quetzal whistle to quickly reach the shrine in Outer Fortis, with a few trips removed to account for human error and time spent recharging the whistle.
