Plant a cactus seed in the cactus patch in Al Kharid, easiest travelled to using a ring of dueling, gnome glider or amulet of glory. The patch is found just north of the crafting shop. As well as the cactus patch in the farming guild, easiest travelled to using a skills necklace, spirit tree with 85 , fairy ring CIR, or a Farming skillcape. The seed takes about 9.3 hours to grow and once fully grown, it can be harvested for cactus spines.

Spines can be harvested every 60 minutes. The minimum yield is always three, higher Farming levels yield a higher average, but at 99 Farming, the average is around ten spines.

Cactus spines are used to make weapon poison(+) and to pay farmers to care for yew trees. To get to the patch, simply use a ring of dueling or an amulet of glory to teleport to Al Kharid. Pick the spines, possibly noting them with the tool leprechaun. Then travel to the farming guild patch and pick the cactus spines and bank them.

This method works well with other harvesting money-makers, such as picking papayas or coconuts. The 60 minute timer also makes it coincide well with herb-farming runs (which can be done every 80 minutes).

Magic secateurs will not increase the yield of cactus spines.
