Chests are located inside the Rogues' Castle in Deep Wilderness. Requiring 84 Thieving, looting them can be one of the most lucrative thieving activities if player-killers can be managed. As always, players should not take anything they are not prepared to lose when it comes to the Wilderness.

For specific information on equipment and procedure, along with calculations on rates, see Chest (Rogues' Castle)/Strategies.

Player-killers are an inevitable part of the Rogues' Castle. This specific method involves committing suicide on their arrival or after around 15-20 minutes have passed, retrieving their items from Death's office (no death fees), banking, and returning to the chests, which can take only around 2 minutes. To minimize risk, untradeable prayer bonus items should be used. Prayer potion(2)s given by the chest will generally be lost as Wilderness supply piles but can sustain prayer after the single dose of Blighted super restore is used.

Optionally, with practice it may become possible to keep health high enough to get a chance to escape up the stairs or manouever around the other side of the castle in order to buy time to log out, but this may cost more time than its worth, especially against freeze spells.

385 chests per hour would be a rough median for four interruptions. If uninterrupted, up to 425 chests can be opened per hour. If you cannot react to the player killers fast enough to die from the Araxyte venom sac, up to 500k profit will be lost if banking every 15-20 minutes.

While only the medium Wilderness Diary is required to loot the chest, the average value of a chest increases by around 20% with the hard Wilderness Diary and that full bonus is used for this guide. Additionally, completing the hard Wilderness Diary enables choosing a destination when using the Wilderness Obelisks, which allows for significantly faster returns from death or banking. Without the hard diary, the number of chests opened per hour will be closer to 340 and around 15% off the profit there will be lost.
