Venators are located in the Apsul and Virer Hunting Grounds in Vampyrium. Players can reach them quickly using the pillar shortcut between the grounds and Sangvesti after unlocking it with a pickaxe from the southern side. The are noteworthy for their rare Blood shard drop, which is significantly more common from their superior monster, the blood-starved venator.
It is recommended to use Protect from Melee as they are very accurate. After a few attacks, they will pause to shriek, draining your hitpoints and prayer if you do not turn off your overheads. The sunspear is not only the strongest weapon against the venators, but its special attack can grant a venator heart if used to finish a kill. These can be used on the nearby aranei shrines to restore a modest amount of prayer and special attack. Consistent special attack finishes can negate the need to bring prayer potions altogether, even when praying Piety and protect from melee in non-prayer gear.
With better gear and higher stats, it is possible to achieve close to 100 kills/hour.
Alternatively, venators can be fought without a slayer task by paying 30 stymphike feather per venator to the Aranei guards. Blood-starved venators will still spawn at their standard rate, but you will not receive the boost from a Slayer helmet nor will superiors roll on the superior unique drop table.
