Horizon's lure is a type of ale that temporarily boosts Sailing by 4, while draining Thieving by 2. Drinking a horizon's lure results in successive game messages stating You drink the rich golden ale. It tastes like a fond memory. You feel optimistic about the future.

The ability to purchase horizon's lure is unlocked after completely charting 70 seas across all oceans, then showing Chartin' Charles McAtless the captain's log; currently, this requires that players fully chart everything in the game to unlock this ale.

78 Sailing^[boostable] is required to chart the sea, as well as a boat with an Adamant keel, Adamant helm and Eternal brazier to traverse the Crystal-flecked waters, Tangled kelp and Northern Ocean. 76 Sailing ^{[not boostable]} is required to obtain the brazier schematic from Buccaneers' Haven.

Once unlocked, players can speak to Chartin' Charles McAtless again and select the chat option "What do I get from charting the sea?", then "Can you tell me about these drinks?". Players can buy one ale at a time for 300 coins, or 25 noted ales at once for 7,500 coins.

A keg of horizon's lure can be created by using 25 horizon's lure (either noted or unnoted, but not a mixture of both) on a keg built in a player's boat.

Having this keg onboard increases Sailing experience gained by 2.5% from all activities, including Barracuda Trials. Being on another player's boat with this keg requires that the player have unlocked the ale on their own in order to benefit from its effects. Ironmen being on another player's boat will never benefit from the ale's effects.

Players can also freely obtain an infinite amount of horizon's lure by using a beer glass on it.
