A rare black lobster is an item acquired by drinking a bottle of black lobster ale acquired during sea charting. Players can "Shake" their lobster, resulting in some flavour text. Extremely rarely (~1/3,000), the lobster will plea for help when shaken.

If lost, it can be re-acquired from drinking another bottle of black lobster ale.

• The rare black lobster is a reference to an old scam where players would sell burnt lobsters as "rare black lobsters".
• In 2009, a "rare black lobster" t-shirt was for sale on the Jagex Store.
