Butterfly ray

Butterfly rays are a monster which can be found in the Shrouded Ocean, Unquiet Ocean, and Sunset Ocean. They may assigned as a bounty task starting at level 40 Sailing. A guaranteed bounty task can be received from Land's End. They drop ray barbs which can be used to make trawling nets.

When hunting the rays, it is beneficial to bring a herb sack and a seed box, as they frequently drop herbs and seeds.

Any boat with a mithril keel or better will not take any damage from butterfly rays.

• Ray barbs were originally intended to be a 1 in 300 drop,^[1] but due to a bug they were much more common, at a rate of where is the N^th harmonic number.^[2]
