Dolphin | OSRS Index

Dolphins can be found in many of Gielinor's oceans. They drop the echo pearl, used to build a fathom pearl. They do not have any associated bounty tasks.

Any boat with an iron keel or better will not take any damage from dolphins.

Dolphin calves can often be seen following dolphins.

Date	Changes
1 April 2026 (Update)	Reduced Hitpoints from 74 to 45 and combat level from 29 to 22.
18 March 2026 (Update)	To compensate for boat combat changes, dolphins received the following adjustments: Hitpoints increased from 50 to 74. Defence level decreased from 5 to 0. Combat level increased from 25 to 29. Heavy Ranged defence decreased from 5 to 0. The quantity of bronze cannonballs dropped has been increased from 30-45 to 36-54. The quantity of iron cannonballs dropped has been increased from 20-40 to 30-42. Echo pearl drop rate decreased from 1/927 to ~1/1,200.

Although they drop gnomeballs, no dolphins can be found near the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Dolphins are the only sea monsters which do not have an associated bounty task.
Echo pearls were originally intended to be a 1 in 10,000 drop,^[1] but due to a bug they were much more common, at a rate of where is the N^th harmonic number.^[2]
