The average adamant dragon kill, including its unique drops, is worth 33,847.49. Without the unique drops, the average kill is worth 17,956.00.

This guide assumes 12 kills per trip and 5 trips per hour, for around 60 kills per hour. Your profit per hour may vary. At lower levels and equipment, you may get ~50 kills/hr, while at maximum efficiency, it is possible to obtain ~75 kills/hr. The most common strategy is to pay moderate attention using melee, 90+ combat stats, praying piety + protect from magic, wearing justiciar, dragonfire shield and dragon hunter lance/osmumten's fang for an average of 60 kills/hr.

To get back to the laboratory underneath Lithkren, players can travel using the rowboat from the quest; on the west side of the island or, after completion, taking a digsite pendant and using it on the strange machine north of the rune dragon room, adding a teleport straight to Lithkren on it. Additionally player can use the digsite pendant to create a mounted digsite pendant in the nexus room of their POH. Using the (mounted) digsite pendant makes getting back to the laboratory underneath Lithkren so fast that min-maxing to stay as long as possible is not worth it. Instead players should pick up all loot (including dragon bones) then bank and return.

Adamant dragons have multiple attacks, similar to mithril and rune dragons. Along with long-range dragonfire attacks, they have a standard melee, ranged and magic attack (which resembles Earth Wave), as well as two unique attacks.

  • The first attack is a poison projectile, which lands on the player's position and splits into two more projectiles around the original projectile in a 5x5 area. These projectiles can hit from 14-25, but can be reduced to 4-8 by being under the effect of any poison protection. Players can avoid the attack entirely by moving three squares away from their original position when the attack was launched.
  • The second attack is a Ranged attack that hits through Protect from Missiles, and uses the Blood Forfeit effect from enchanted ruby bolts, where the dragon sacrifices 10% of its current hitpoints to deal damage equal to 20% of the player's current hitpoints. Because of this effect, it is recommended to keep the player's hitpoints around 40-50 to minimise the damage dealt from this attack.
  • Even the standard attacks are dangerous, consistently hitting in the 20s. This makes dying a very real possibility if not paying enough attention.

Ultimately when killing adamant dragons using protect from magic, using antipoison and wearing/consuming supplies that protect from dragonfire are essential to killing adamant dragons effectively.

Using defenders increases gp/hr even with the cost of extended super antifires but most use dragonfire shield + extended antifires because of the higher defensive bonuses (increased block chance). Using armour with offensive bonuses is also higher gp/hr but most players prefer to use justiciar armour because of its set effect and higher defensive bonuses. Dragon hunter lance is only slightly better than osmumten's fang with max offensive equipment otherwise they have a similar damage per second.

Using anglerfish as food is an uncommon strategy. Anglerfish allow the player to heal above their max HP, allowing a player to look away from their screen for longer periods without worrying about dying. Anglerfish require less attention but are more expensive while karambwan are cheaper but need to be eaten more often. Over time using anglerfish can cost millions more than using karambwan.
