Yami is a pet dropped by Yama. It is a much smaller version of him.

When a player receives the pet, it will automatically try to appear as their follower; Unlike other pets, Yami will initially spawn in front of Yama's throne with a cloud of smoke similar to those of imps, saying Oh no. At the same time, a message in the chatbox will state You have a funny feeling like you're being followed. However, if a player receives a pet while having a follower out (for example, a cat), it will be placed into their inventory. When this occurs, the message in the chatbox will instead state You feel something weird sneaking into your backpack.

If a player's inventory is full and they have a follower already, they will not receive the pet; it must instead be claimed from Probita in East Ardougne.

On death, if a player loses their pet (as a follower or in your inventory) it will wander around the area for 30 seconds before despawning. Even if the player returns in time, the pet cannot be picked up, and can be reclaimed from Probita.

Unlike most pets, Yami has an "Emote" option. When clicked, he will perform one of Yama's animations in the following order seen below.

There is a short cooldown of several seconds between emotes. If players attempt to have Yami perform an emote again too soon, a game message will state You must wait a moment before your pet can do another emote.

• Yami's melee attack emote.
• Yami's ranged/magic attack emote.
• Yami's axe-spin emote.
• Yami's standing emote, which loops until the player moves or interacts with him.

• Upon release, Yami was acquired as a main drop roll rather than tertiary, similar to the abyssal orphan, phoenix, and tiny tempor. Yami was moved to a tertiary drop roll the week after release.
• Unlike other pets, Yami is unique in the following:
  • Upon picking him up, Yami will tell the player in an overhead message Get your hands off m-, but gets interrupted mid sentence as he is shoved into the player's inventory.
  • If the player dies with Yami and reclaims him from Probita, he will tell the player "The next time I am left stranded by your incompetence, which I'm sure won't take long, do us both a favour and don't reclaim me."
• Yami in Japanese means darkness or dark.
• Yami in Hinduism is the goddess of the Yamuna river and twin sister to Yama.
• Unlike Yama, Yami expresses no interest in pineapple pizza.
• Yami had a festive override wearing a santa hat during the 2025 Christmas event.
