Soup is a skilling pet that can be obtained while training the Sailing skill.
When a player receives the pet, it will automatically try to appear as their follower. At the same time, a message in the chatbox will state You have a funny feeling like you're being followed. However, if a player receives a pet while having a follower out (for example, a cat), it will be placed into their inventory. When this occurs, the message in the chatbox will instead state You feel something weird sneaking into your backpack.
If a player's inventory is full and they have a follower already, they will not receive the pet; it must instead be claimed from Probita in East Ardougne.
On death, if a player loses their pet (as a follower or in your inventory) it will wander around the area for 30 seconds before despawning. Even if the player returns in time, the pet cannot be picked up, and can be reclaimed from Probita.
Drop rates
Soup can only be rolled when the player is performing a Sailing activity. No pet roll is given when a crewmate action results in earned experience (such as the crewmate salvaging or trimming sails). For shipwreck salvaging, the pet is rolled upon collecting the salvage, with a very small chance upon sorting. For port tasks, the pet rolls upon claiming the rewards of the task, with a drop chance scaling with the task level. The drop rate for port tasks is 1 in . The player's Sailing level at the time of completion is not accounted for when rolling for the pet.
The fastest method on average to receive Soup is by rapidly completing courier tasks between Aldarin and the Sunset Coast for roughly a 1/4691. After every 8 courier tasks, the notice board will reset. Occasionally, upon reset, no tasks will be available between Aldarin and the Sunset Coast. When this occurs, players should complete 8 courier tasks between Port Sarim and The Pandemonium to quickly force another board reset and then return to Aldarin. Because of this, it can be useful to park a second boat at the Pandemonium docks, which can quickly be accessed via the Sailor's amulet, Charter ships or the Teleport to boat spell.

Trivia
- The design chosen for the pet was the result of a poll, in which option A (the turtle) won with 32.6% of the vote.
- Soup is named after turtle soup. Historically, turtles were prized as a food source by sailors at sea due to their ability to be stored for long periods of time on ships.
- When a raw sea turtle, cooked sea turtle, or burnt sea turtle is used on Soup, a unique dialogue is displayed.
- Soup can be fed a soup by using certain food items (such as vegetables, fish, stew, curry, or a spicy stew) on him while also having a bowl of hot water in the inventory. This will consume the food item and leave behind an empty bowl.
- Soup had a festive override wearing a Santa hat during the 2025 Christmas event.
