The fox is a variant of the beaver pet that can be permanently unlocked by using the fox whistle, a rare reward from the Poachers Forestry event, on the beaver. Once unlocked, the fox can be freely transformed between the beaver and fox versions, as well as the pheasant if that variant has been unlocked as well. If the beaver has been recoloured and the player metamorphs to either the fox or the pheasant and then back into the beaver, then the beaver will revert back into the default colour.
On death, if a player loses their pet (as a follower or in your inventory) it will wander around for 30 seconds before disappearing completely. It can then be reclaimed from Probita in East Ardougne for no cost.

Trivia
- The fox's dialogues makes references to the 2009 American film Fantastic Mr. Fox as well as the viral 2013 song The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?).
- You can feed the pet fox a Raw chicken, to which it will say "*chomps* Delicious!"
