Nid is an araxyte pet dropped by Araxxor. It is a much smaller version of Araxxor. Players can right click "Metamorph" to change between Nid and Rax by using the coagulated venom, which unlocks the ability to do so.

When a player receives the pet, it will automatically try to appear as their follower. At the same time, a message in the chatbox will state You have a funny feeling like you're being followed. However, if a player receives a pet while having a follower out (for example, a cat), it will be placed into their inventory. When this occurs, the message in the chatbox will instead state You feel something weird sneaking into your backpack.

If a player's inventory is full and they have a follower already, they will not receive the pet; it must instead be claimed from Probita in East Ardougne.

On death, if a player loses their pet (as a follower or in your inventory) it will wander around the area for 30 seconds before despawning. Even if the player returns in time, the pet cannot be picked up, but can be reclaimed from Probita.

When Araxxor dies, players can choose to either harvest or destroy the corpse. Choosing the "Harvest" option rolls the drop table as normal, including a chance to receive Nid. Choosing the "Destroy" option will roll for Nid at double the drop rate, but will forfeit all other potential loot (aside from elite clue scrolls).

• The examine text for Rax refers to the myth that a person swallows spiders during their sleep.
• The pet's names, Rax and Nid, are a play on the word "arachnid".
• During development, the names Arancini, Araxxito, and Rax were used tentatively for the pet, and were also unofficially polled on Mod Skylark's Twitter account, with Rax being the favoured name.^[1] Arancini was later used for a separate NPC in the Morytania Spider Cave, while Rax was used as a transmog for Nid.
• Nid can be acquired without the required Slayer level by boosting Slayer level and killing Araxxor on a Spider task.^[2]
