Contract of bloodied blows is a contract used to challenge Yama to a more difficult fight for the middle piece of the purifying sigil. It can be dropped by Yama himself through opening dossiers, or via black, greater, and lesser demons in the Chasm of Fire after the player has agreed to Yama's terms by speaking to him after A Kingdom Divided.

To obtain this contract from the demons in the Chasm of Fire, they must be killed with two-handed melee weapons. The drop rate will double while the red sigil is active above their heads. Players can speak to the Disciple of Yama outside the chasm to learn about which sigil is currently active.

The contract is consumed upon starting the fight, although if successful the challenger will receive the contract again as a drop. Yama will not drop standard loot upon completion of this contract.

When the player fights Yama after signing the contract of bloodied blows, the following changes apply:

• Yama's health is increased to 3000.
• The player and Yama both gain Wretched Strength - their minimum hit increases the lower their health is.
• Four void flares spawn instead of two - however two of them will have reduced health. The void flares spawn at the same time as during the regular fight.
• Players are no longer guaranteed a maximum hit against void flares.

Additionally, the following changes also apply for all sigil contracts:

• Yama must be defeated alone.
• Yama's attack cycle is accelerated from 8-tick to 7-tick.
• Yama does two standard attacks before a special attack; glyphs respawn faster.
• Shadow Waves and Fire Streaks appear more frequently.
• Special attacks in phase 1 land 1 tick earlier than usual.
• Phase transition thresholds trigger at 75% and 50% health.
• The Judge of Yama throws fire bombs every 3 ticks, and throws two per attack.
• Shadow Waves and Shadow Crashes are more frequent in phase 3.

The goal of magic setup is to have enough magic damage to successfully kill Void Flares during P3 in one hit, as you are not guaranteed to be fully accurate against void flares.

With recent upgrades such as confliction gauntlets and avernic treads, it's possible to achieve required magic damage bonus without ancestral equipment and using Virtus robes instead. Using Virtus robes allows using echo virtus ornament kits on the set, significantly reducing the cost for dying whilst learning.

With the addition of confliction Gauntlets players may pivot towards using only purging staff instead of Tumeken's shadow with Virtus robes giving less magic damage bonus overall, thus bridging the DPS cap between the two staves. This gives the player an option to simply use purging staff throughout the fight, especially during P3.

Instead of Ghrazi Rapier main alternatives are demonbane weapons such as Emberlight and Darklight. A Saradomin godsword may be useful due to its special attack killing Judge of Yama during phase intermissions to restore health and prayer during the phase. A Darklight is highly advised during budget setups to reduce death costs as killing the Judge of Yama as fast as possible isn't a goal during the contract.

• Locator orb - Used to bring down your health prior starting the fight and after phase transitions. As long as the player is doing the mechanics perfectly, nothing can bring their health below 1.
• Dwarven rock cake - Used to manipulate health to stay at the proper threshold (dependent on gear setup) and avoiding chip damage during P3 simultaneously
• Guthix rest - Used to mitigate chip damage from Yama's attacks during P3 and maintaining required Void Flare one hit thresholds.
• Rune pouch - Thralls and deathcharge.
• Anglerfish - Used to heal up instantly during phase transitions to kill Judge of Yama to avoid dying to environmental damage whilst fighting Judge of Yama
