A surge potion is an untradeable potion made by using demonic tallow on a torstol potion (unf), requiring 81 Herblore and granting 185 Herblore experience. Making the potion gives the game message You mix the tallow with a bit of your blood into the potion.

Surge potions restore 25% special attack energy per dose, but can only be drunk once every five minutes. Attempting to drink another dose before the cooldown expires results in a game message stating You are still full of adrenaline. You'll be able to drink in [time remaining]. When the cooldown expires, a game message will appear stating You now feel capable of drinking another dose of surge potion.

The cooldown timer will pause in the following situations:

• Between waves in the Fortis Colosseum and Inferno
• Between rooms in the Theatre of Blood
• Between delve levels at the Doom of Mokhaiotl

The cooldown timer can be removed in the following situations:

• Dying (including in safe minigames and when resurrected by diary perks)
• Entering and exiting a raid or the Fortis Colosseum
• Using the free-for-all portal in Ferox Enclave
• Drinking from any pool in a player-owned house

The cooldown timer will not pause or be removed during these situations

• Between waves in the TzHaar Fight Cave
• Between rooms in the Tombs of Amascut
• Dying in the Theatre of Blood or Tombs of Amascut
• Praying at the Elidinis Statuette

Attempting to drink the potion with 100% special attack energy will produce the message Drinking this would have no effect.
