The tarnished chest is located on The Crown Jewel and Shimmering Atoll, which requires 64 and 49 Sailing, respectively, to moor at. It requires a boostable level 54 Thieving to loot. A lockpick is not required to open it, but increases the success rate of opening the chest. Failing to picklock the chest has a chance of teleporting the player a short distance away.

The chest is a great source of pillar frags, giving on average one every 7.2 chests.

If players fail to loot the chest, there is a small chance to get teleported across the island. The effects of tele block or teleport anchoring scroll do not prevent this.
