The chest is found in Bryophyta's lair in Varrock Sewers, and can be opened with a mossy key after defeating Bryophyta, once per kill. It is the only source of Bryophyta's essence, a unique material used to create Bryophyta's staff.

Opening the chest places loot directly on the ground rather than in the player's inventory. Whether the player has a mossy key or not, clicking the chest will show the game message You hear the leaves stir... then after 9 seconds Bryophyta will respawn.
