Historian Aldo is found within the Varrock Sewers, outside of the entrance to Scurrius' lair, where he is trying to study it. Players who do not have the levels to create rat bone weapons may speak to Aldo to do it for them, for a fee of 50,000 coins.

Any excess Scurrius' spines that the player comes across can also be traded to him for an antique lamp that grants 5,000 experience in a combat skill of the player's choice, outside of Prayer, which gives 3,500 experience.

He keeps a rat on top of his hat, alluding to his area of research.
