Trainee Guards are aspiring Varrock guards. They can be found training on dummies at the top of Varrock Palace, and all wear the standard guard uniform for Varrock. They are being trained by the guard captain, who can be found marching up and down, berating them. Unlike most guards, the trainees cannot be attacked.

• The captain evidently has a poor opinion of his trainees, calling them a "useless bunch of recruits" and "weaklings" in his dialogue.
• The player can attempt to become a trainee but the captain will turn them away, either for being too willing to die, or for being a coward.
