A dummy is a sandbag that players can train on. Different types of dummy provide different amounts of Attack experience per hit, but it does not deal any damage and does not provide any hitpoints experience. This makes it ideal for players just starting out, if they are trying to keep their hitpoints level as low as possible.

Dummies in Varrock can be found in the building north of Varrock's East Bank, as well as on the top floor of Varrock Castle. Similar types of dummies can be found in Burthorpe, with soldiers training on them, as well as in the Kualti Headquarters in Civitas illa Fortis. All of these dummies will provide 5 Attack experience per hit, up to and including level 7. Players with level 8 or higher in Attack will receive no experience, instead receiving the message There is nothing more you can learn from hitting a dummy..

There are also dummies at the Combat Training Camp north of Ardougne, which grant 50 Attack experience per hit for only the first six hits dealt on any dummy there. After these hits, the dummies will no longer provide any experience when hit.

The dummies found in Prifddinas and the Clan Hall, despite being attackable, provide no experience whatsoever. Even players with level 1 Attack will not receive any experience from hitting them.
