Osmumten was the last pharaoh of the line of pharaohs chosen by Tumeken, the God of the Sun. Besides being ruler, Osmumten was a passionate hunter, wielding his specially designed weapon, he adventured across the land, fighting the greatest beasts. Osmumten was the pharaoh somewhere around the Second Age, when the present-day Kharidian Desert was invaded by the Zarosian Empire in the Kharidian–Zarosian War.

Osmumten was fighting on the frontline in the war, which ended when Tumeken sacrificed himself to stop the invading forces. Following Tumeken's supposed death, his widow Elidinis, the Goddess of Fertility, gave Osmumten Tumeken's shadow and the Elidinis' ward before retreating to mourn her husband's death and the unfortunate fate of her daughter Amascut.

Osmumten would continue ruling as the last pharaoh appointed by Tumeken. However it was not long after the pyrrhic victory against the Zarosians that Osmumten was blamed by a group of usurpers (the ancestors of the modern day Menaphite gang), who killed him and his entire family, save his son Mehhar, who was saved by the family's servants and brought to Ullek, where he would live with the Sect of Scabaras.

His spirit can be found besides his sarcophagus inside the Tombs of Amascut, commending the player on their apparent victory over Amascut after defeating the Warden, but also warning that Amascut's forces will be back again and that the player's help is still needed.
