Prince Itzla Arkan is the son of Zyanyi Arkan, the Sun Queen of Varlamore. His father is Servius, the Teokan of Ralos. Prince Itzla is first encountered during the Children of the Sun quest, where he leads the delegation visiting Varrock on behalf of the Kingdom of Varlamore. He is also involved in Twilight's Promise but disappears near the end of The Heart of Darkness where he is teleported to an unknown location during the encounter with Amoxliatl. He reappears during the events of The Final Dawn.

Itzla is the current heir of the Arkan dynasty and a descendant of Mezpah Arkan. After Zyanyi decided to restore a tradition in which the ruling royal would marry the Teokan of Ralos for guidance, she married Servius and bore Itzla from the marriage. According to himself, his parents were a "convoluted mess".

He was also entrusted with the Arkan blade, which was passed down to him by his grandfather.

As the prince of Varlamore, Itzla would often accompany his father in place of his mother when performing diplomatic missions. One of these visits involved heading to Varrock, though he was quickly bored of politics and heard some commotion. Curious, Itzla made his way to the roof of Varrock Palace and discovered a plot to kill his father, which had been interrupted by a passing adventurer. Itzla thanked the adventurer and granted them access to his kingdom as gratitude for their service.

Upon arriving in Varlamore, the authorities were quick to investigate who wanted to have Servius dead. Itzla granted the adventurer Renu, their personal quetzal and allowing them to make use of its services to travel across Varlamore. When Ennius killed a potential suspect, the two ended up going to Ralos' Rise to investigate the matter further. At that point, cultists from the Twilight Emissaries attacked, severely injuring Servius while Metzli had gone missing. Itzla quickly sent the news to his mother while deciding on what to do next with the cult.

Later on, he asked the adventurer to help infiltrate the Twilight Emissaries in order to figure out what they were up to. The adventurer managed to convince a collaborator that they wished to join, and they were brought to the Twilight Temple, where the cult was based. As part of the trials for new recruits, the two quickly passed them under Forebearer Janus' watchful eye and soon discovered that Metzli was the Augur, or leader of the cult. They were then tasked with exploring Tapoyauik, during which Frost Nagua separated the two during an ambush. They were eventually able to reach the bottom and discovered Amoxliatl, who asked why they came. After a short conversation, the cult came in, having known their identities and forcibly teleported Itzla away.

After being paraded in front of the cult to be used as a sacrifice for the Contending, Itzla was taken away to a hidden location. He would not be seen again until the cult besieged the Crypt of Tonali, though he was quickly discarded after the doors leading to the Mokhaiotl archive was opened. Quickly tended to, Itzla rushed back to the front lines after the adventurer and his mother slew Ennius, knowing that the Tonali forces needed him at the front lines. The two then ventured into the Ruins of Mokhaiotl, confronting Metzli and defeating her in battle, only for her to run further inside the complex. When she reached the archives, she was shocked to discover that the archives were empty, and Itzla told her that either the archives never existed or was not meant for them in the first place. Suddenly, Furia arrived, and angered by Metzli's betrayal, killed her with a thrown rune knife. They then took her into custody, where Zyanzi prepared to charge Furia with crimes of treason with the penalty of death, though Itzla stopped his mother, stating that the cult had already lost two leaders and they still had supporters in the shadows. Zyanzi, impressed by his sudden growth during the entire ordeal, obliged her son's request and had Furia taken away.

As she left, Itzla shared some banter with the adventurer, thanking them for their help. As a reward for their efforts, he passed down the Arkan blade to them, stating that its path lied with them and that they deserved to use it in battle. With no more threats over him or his father's head, Itzla quickly realized he had plenty of time to spare and suggested to his mother he spend it at Fortis Colosseum.

Bug:

When killing him with a Scythe of Vitur, he will not die, you must unequip the Scythe and punch him for the final hit.

When fighting Itzla during the fourth trial, he will use strong melee attacks and will hit up to 16 hitpoints with normal attacks, so Protect from Melee is advised. He will use protection prayers whenever you perform a special attack, and uses two in turn, both of which he will warn you about in advance. For instance, he will pray Protect from Magic if a Voidwaker special attack is used.

The first special attack is his sword swipe which will disable the player's Prayer and will deal some damage. Once his animation is complete, immediately reactivate Protect from Melee and continue fighting him.

The second special attack is his area-of-effect (AoE) damage, which he will indicate with a message saying, You might wanna dodge this one! two ticks before launching this special attack. Simply run toward the back of him as he will launch a trapezoidal-shaped AoE attack in front of him.
