Kuhu essence are runestones obtained within the ruins beneath the Crypt of Tonali during The Final Dawn, found by searching urns around the sun puzzle room area. They are used to imbue the altars to complete the puzzle.

• The word "Kuhu" also shows up in two different stone tablets, one found in the Ruins of Tapoyauik and the other found in the Ruins of Mokhaiotl. Based on the context clues, it's likely that "Kuhu" is what the Old Ones called themselves.
