The Book, titled "The Recruit", is obtained during The Heart of Darkness where players must find and use the first letter of each highlighted word as the key to the north-west chest. There are four randomly highlighted words that are different per player; some of these highlighted words include:

I arrived at the tower, [Restless/Disconcerted] and full of nerves. As I prepared for the trials that Awaited, I asked myself if I had what it took to join the Emissaries?
The tower was cold and dark, [with no sign of [Nature/natural Light] anywhere/isolated from the rest of the World]. Entering through the shadow-filled gates, I hoped that all my [new/New] research would be enough.

- The capital letters strewn about in the middle of some sentences within the book spell out "DAWN", "RALO", or "RANI", depending on which sequence the player receives upon obtaining the book. "Ralo" and "Rani" are words in the Old Ones' language, meaning Light/Sun and Dark/Moon, respectively.
