Chests that appear during the first trial in The Heart of Darkness are closed and locked with different interfaces.
To unlock the chest located south-west, read the book and use the first letter of every highlighted word to the locking mechanism. Ensure that each letter of those words are lined up in the grey area of each box.
To unlock the chest located north-west, read the poem and note that each word at the beginning of each line describes the direction of the arrow. The first word of each verse in the poem uses the language of the Old Ones, translated as cardinal directions: Takam = East, Makt = North, Silam = West, Uitt = South. This is the passcode for the north-western chest; input it to receive the final scrap of paper. Combine all scraps of paper to obtain a completed note, containing three words that are different for each player to say to Forebearer Janus.
