Scraps of paper are obtained from the three chests in the first trial to join the Twilight Emissaries during The Heart of Darkness. When combined, they become a completed note.

When inspected, the chatbox will state "The paper seems to be part of a larger note that has been ripped up. There are some letters on the paper, but without the other pieces, you can't work out what it's meant to say."
