Maisa is a spy for Al Kharid and plays a role in the Contact! and Beneath Cursed Sands quests, as well as the Into the Tombs miniquest.

She is first met during Contact!, where she was supposed to be relieved from her espionage duties by Kaleef, but he met his demise while traversing the tunnels below Sophanem. As a result, she is unable to leave.^[1] After the player informs her of Kaleef's death and earns her trust, Maisa will instruct the player in contacting Osman to personally come and rescue her.

During Beneath Cursed Sands, she sends a message to the player and informs them that citizens of Menaphos have been bypassing the quarantine and are excavating the Necropolis south of Sophanem. Upon investigating, Menaphite Guards led by the Head Menaphite Guard attack, but are defeated. Upon defeat, they break free from the trance they were in, and it's revealed the Amascut is responsible for the excavations so she could enter the Jaltevas Pyramid. They also reveal that she was assisted by scabarites that came from the ruins in the north-east, and Maisa tasks the place with investigating the Ruins of Ullek while she tries to figure out how to re-enter Menaphos.

Later in the quest, she works with Zahur to discover the source of the pox plaguing Sophanem, which originates from the bark of a cadavaberry bush and is easily treatable. After the cure is made and delivered to Sophanem, she and the player return to her camp, only to discover that Osman has been spying on her, after which she leaves in a rage. At the end of the quest, she, the player, and the High Priest meet with the officials of Menaphos. Surprising everyone, Pharaoh Kemesis himself shows up and announces that city of Menaphos will begin preparations to end the quarantine, and that it will take time for the preparations to be complete.

After this, she meets the player at the Jaltevas Pyramid, guarding the entrance while the player goes after Amascut inside. After fighting their way through the Tombs of Amascut, the player frees the lesser gods and interrupts Amascut's scheme, but not without her already having gained significant power from the lesser gods and the Wardens. Maisa offers the lesser gods to help where she can, and departs from the pyramid.

• Before her graphical update, she wore a humorous disguise with fake glasses, nose, and moustache. This is based on Groucho glasses inspired by comedian Groucho Marx. Her appearance was updated to its current model with the release of Beneath Cursed Sands due to the developers of that quest believing her pre-2022 model was not thematically fitting.
