The man who is not Osman is an agent in the employ of Osman, the spymaster of Al Kharid. During Contact!, he disguises himself and replaces Osman outside the Al Kharid palace while he is busy in Sophanem.

Like Osman, he is fond of Sq'irks, and replaces Osman's role in the Sorceress's Garden minigame as well as Crack the Clue III until completion of the quest.
