Tumeken

Tumeken (Jagex pronunciation: TOO-meh-ken), sometimes referred to in Menaphite texts as the God of the Sun,[1] is the god of light and the husband of Elidinis, with whom he created Icthlarin and Amascut using their divine essence.[2] In this capacity, he is the main god worshipped by the desert's inhabitants.[3]

Despite being considered the head of the Menaphite Pantheon, precious little is known about Tumeken. He is known to have created the four lesser deities (correctly called his avatars) of the pantheon: Apmeken, Crondis, Het and Scabaras, which, according to the Book of Light and Day, were made from four dreams Tumeken had over the course of four days.[4] Together the eight deities led the Kharidian empire in what is today known as the Kharidian Desert. The pharaohs that have ruled Menaphos and the desert in the gods' stead are known as the Sons of Tumeken and are buried in the Jalsavrah Pyramid.[5]

Tumeken is believed to have perished in the Kharidian–Zarosian War, where he sacrificed himself to hold back the Zarosian forces. This resulted in the annihilation of both the Menaphite and Zarosian armies, and the land itself, reducing the once lush lands into a desert.[6]

The sphinx describes Tumeken's power as follows:

Tumeken is the god of light and husband to Elidinis. He is the leading god of the Menaphite Pantheon. [...] A common saying about Tumeken is that you see him wherever you look, but never actually notice him. ... You humans sometimes say that 'you have to be cruel to be kind'. That seems a fitting way to describe Tumeken.

The current pharaoh, though more secular than his predecessors, is still believed to be a follower of Tumeken, as the leader of the Menaphite gang that was recently exiled for their attempt to overthrow him describes him as a 'thrall of Tumeken'. Unbeknownst to most however, the Pharaoh has been under the control of Amascut for a long time, being used as a puppet to quarantine Menaphos, so that she could obtain something from the city. Although Sophanem is the city of the dead and primarily worships Icthlarin, Tumeken and his wife are also actively revered there.[7]
