Mother of Seren

The mother of Seren is an ancient and mysterious deity who created Seren[1] and her brother.

Over time, Seren's brother began to resent her possessiveness and left, while Seren remained devoted to her.[2] In grief, she dreamt new beings into existence, beginning with some that were intelligent but only imitations of Seren and her brother, and eventually creating some that were purely instinctual.[3] The act of creating these beings weakened her. Seren was able to convince some of the creations to sacrifice their energy to return it to her mother, but this only slowed her decline.[4] When it became clear there was nothing more Seren could do, she left her mother as well.[5]

It is unknown what became of Seren's mother since Seren's departure.

Trivia

  • In RuneScape 3, the mother of Seren is named Mah and resides on the world of Freneskae. Seren's brother is stated to be Zaros, and Mah's later creations are said to be the Mahjarrat (meaning "Children of Mah") and Muspahs.
    • She is not mentioned by name in Old School RuneScape, but all evidence strongly implies that Seren's mother is Mah, as their backstory remains consistent between the two games.
