Konar quo Maten/Strategies

All of Konar's tasks must be completed at the specific location she requests.

Transportation

Getting a task from Konar is straight forward as long as they have 75 combat. She is found at Mount Karuulm.

Players can access her through the following methods:

  • The Lunar spell Astral Contact can be used to receive a new assignment from Konar remotely.
  • Rada's blessing 3, teleports players next to her three times a day.
  • CIR teleports players south of Mount Karuulm. Players with 62 Agility can scale straight up to the Kalith settlement; otherwise, they will need to run around the volcano to reach her.

Requirements

While Konar technically has no requirements, players should take into account the speed at which they can kill enemies, as Konar's tasks are location dependent and some places may be less desirable than others.

For this reason, the player should aim for the recommended stats below, ideally:

Attack Strength Defence Ranged Magic Prayer Notes
Minimum Attack 60+ Strength 60+ Defence 40+ Ranged 61+ Magic 35+ Prayer 43+ For protection prayers
Recommended Attack 80+ Strength 85+ Defence 80+ Ranged 85+ Magic 70/94 Prayer 77+ For burst/barrage spells, and Augury and Rigour

Task block list

Each slayer master has their own unique block list, allowing the player to choose which tasks are blocked unique to their chosen slayer master. For the full list of tasks, see Konar's task list further below. Some tasks provide much lower experience rates, and significantly worse drops, and are deserving of a block. Because of this, and the different tasks given, Konar's block list will look much different to other slayer masters. What the player blocks depends on many factors; levels, experience bossing, personal risk tolerance, loot, and many other variables. Still, some tasks are fairly universally disliked.

The following table shows some tasks that may be blocked or skipped by the player, assuming no tasks are being sought after:

Info: "Weighting" is how likely the task is to be given, in comparison to other tasks. Tasks with high weight are much more likely to be given than those with lower weights.

Task Action Reason
Aberrant spectres (Catacombs of Kourend) Skip Deviant spectres are not worth the time or experience.
Abyssal demons (Abyss or Slayer Tower) Block/Skip If not killing in Catacombs of Kourend (meaning a 1/3 chance of being assigned this location), task should either be blocked or skipped as very poor experience rates.
Bloodvelds (God Wars Dungeon or Slayer Tower) Skip
  • God Wars Dungeon provides low rates and their bloodvelds are incapable of spawning superiors.
  • Slayer Tower is not particularly AFK.
  • All other locations should be completed as they are either multicombat or cannonable.
Black demons Block Very poor drops and high weighting. Although reasonable experience if assigned at Taverley Dungeon, they are still not worth the time. They can never be completed on Demonic gorillas, due to that location never being assigned.
Blue dragons Skip Fairly poor drops and in locations which are either not cannonable and/or multicombat. Low weight, so does not need a block. Can be worth completing on Brutal blue dragons if assigned to the Catacombs of Kourend or Ruins of Tapoyauik.
Brine rats Skip Fairly poor drops and experience. Extremely low weight, so blocks are not needed.
Dagannoth (Waterbirth Island) Skip Although cannonable, the main cave (first level) is single-way only. The rest of the cave is multicombat but has less spawns and most of them have multiple combat styles present. However, all other locations are very good for experience, so only this location should be skipped.
Drakes Block Very poor drops, high stats, high weighting and assigned in large quantities (although still lower than wyrms, but wyrms are much easier to kill) even when accounting for a cannon.
Fire giants Skip (Brimhaven Dungeon) This location, while cannonable, only has one viable cannon spawn and they are a bit spread apart compared to other locations.
Hellhounds Block/Skip Catacombs location should be skipped; while AFK, lack of cannon severely reduces experience rates. Not recommended to do without a cannon.
Kalphite Block/Skip Poor drops, Kalphite Lair has poor experience rates, high weight.
Lizardmen (Kebos Shrine, Battlefield) Skip Poor drops, sparse spawns and/or single-way zone makes for poor experience rates.
Metal dragons (Catacombs of Kourend) Skip Cannot be cannoned, low spawns.
Trolls Skip/Block Poor drops, poor experience rates in all locations except the ones in Zeah, although still not worth due to poor chances of being assigned to Zeah.

If specifically looking for hydra tasks (since Konar is the only one who can assign them), players should block the following:

  • Metal dragons
  • Abyssal demons
  • Black demons
  • Cave kraken
  • Drakes
  • Wyrms
  • Fire giants (kalphites, even if assigned to their lair, are still faster in general)

Tips and tricks

  • Players can slightly speed up a task with the corresponding ensouled head at the location when dropped by a monster. This is ideal when trying to clear a task in an undesirable location. The only exceptions to this are the ensouled demon and ensouled dragon heads.
