The golden key is a quest item used only in Priest in Peril. It is dropped by a hooded Level 30 Monk of Zamorak in the Paterdomus Temple.

It is used to open the first gate under Paterdomus after killing the Temple Guardian and then it is exchanged for the iron key by using it on the southern monument (the one referencing to "Saradomin being the key"). After unlocking the first gate for the first time, it is not required to be in the inventory to open the gate again.

Duplicates can be drop tricked by killing another monk to obtain another before unlocking Drezel's cell. Additionally, should the player lose the iron key they can get another by swapping (using) a golden key at the southern monument. The golden key also cannot be added to a steel key ring.

Trivia

  • If the golden key is used on the monument when the iron key is in the player's inventory or bank, the game will output the message say: "You have already swapped the golden key for the iron key."
