The enchanted key is a quest item that is used to locate treasure rather than unlocking things. This key is featured in the Making History quest. It is also used in The Enchanted Key miniquest to locate additional rewards after completing the quest. Once the miniquest is completed, the key disappears.

If the key is destroyed before completing all the treasures, another key can be obtained from the Silver Merchant for 500 coins. However, if the player has received and since destroyed the steel key ring, they will need to re-obtain the ring before the merchant will sell them the key.

This key can be placed on the steel key ring. Note, if placed on your key ring its name changes to "Key" with the description "Key to find hidden treasure!".

• In RuneScape 3, the key is used in the Meeting History quest to travel back in time to the First Age. It is later revealed in The Light Within that the key is actually an elven artefact called the Amserdrwys, created by the Trahaearn Clan. Its creator suffered from amnesia and the records of its creation were lost, making the key one of a kind.
• When clicked multiple times in one game tick, the Key's audio becomes louder.
