The above rates are calculated assuming use of the Colossal pouch for 65 Pure Essence per inventory, and Raiments of the Eye for 60% extra runes. It also assumes 160 trips per hour, which is possible for a reasonably efficient player with ring of the elements and a close bank teleport. Rates will be slightly lower with lower level pouches, farther teleports, and without the Raiments.
Equip a binding necklace, ring of the elements, hat of the eye (attuned to elemental) or fire tiara, tome of fire and mist battlestaff. In your rune pouch, take all of your astral runes, cosmic runes, and 1 steam rune (so they stack into the pouch). In your inventory bring water runes and essence pouches. Fill your pouches and the rest of your inventory with Pure essence. Make sure you are on the Lunar spellbook.
Ring of the Elements
The highest efficiency method of crafting Steam runes uses the Raiments of the Eye and the Ring of the Elements. Lunar spells are also required for Magic Imbue and Astral Contact to repair the essence pouches. At 85 Runecraft, use of the colossal pouch will greatly increase efficiency, though the binding necklace will be desynced from your # of trips, requiring it to either be broken early or to carry an extra one every fifth trip. A crafting cape, amulet of eternal glory, Achievement diary cape, or ring of dueling are great options for quick banking.
Ring of dueling run
- Starting at Castle Wars, ring of dueling to the PvP Arena
- Enter the nearby Fire Altar
- Cast Magic imbue
- Use Water runes on the altar
- Empty all the essence pouches and use water runes on the altar again
- Teleport to Castle Wars with the ring of dueling and bank, storing steam runes and filling pouches and inventory with Pure essence
- Every 4 runs, equip a new ring of dueling
Notes
- You can replace the Steam battlestaff with a stack of Fire runes and extra Water runes but this will use up an essence spot
- If you don't have access to a Revitalisation pool, you can instead use Stamina potions but these will typically cost more to maintain your run energy compared to Teleport to house (tablet)s
- The Ring of dueling can be replaced with any teleport near a bank
- A charged Amulet of glory to Edgeville works for a cheaper alternative
- With Crafting cape and the Falador diary#Hard completed, the crafting guild bank is a free teleport alternative that won't take up an essence space.
