The Junk appeared in the Jagex Clan Cup 2014 Skilling Arena, in which players were required to gain as much experience from skilling as possible. Any skilling activity would give these items instead, as a substitute for resource items. If the activity normally gave stackable items, they would instead be substituted with the stackable version of the junk item.
Players could interact with the bank Deposit Boxes inside the Skilling Arena to dispose of all the junk items in their inventory. These deposit boxes deleted the items, rather than sending them to the bank.
