The "Thingy" was the name of seven unobtainable items that could previously be found in the game cache.
Originally, it was intended that the Sapphire amulet would give players the ability to teleport to the Barbarian Outpost, holding 8 charges. The standard sapphire amulet would have been converted into the 8 charge version, while the thingys were added for variants that had 1-7 charges. Upon the release of Barbarian Assault, this feature was added to the Games necklace instead.
In RuneScape, the item briefly became viewable in the Grand Exchange. When asked about this, a Jagex Moderator claimed the item was just a joke:

The Thingys were gradually removed from the game, with the last being replaced by a Healer icon in 2019. As a result, they have never been obtainable in Old School RuneScape.

- The name and examine are both a reference to the word "Thingymabob", used to descibe an object that somebody cannot remember the name of.
