Boss kill count, boss killcount or boss kc (listed on the HiScores as Score) refers to the total amount of times a boss has been slain by the player. Raids and skilling bosses are also commonly referred to as boss kc, despite not always following the same structure as traditional bosses.
Almost all bosses have dedicated in-game combat achievement pages as well as a collection log, both of which display the player’s kill count alongside other useful information, such as obtained drops.
Ranking
A player’s score does not necessarily mean they have a rank. While both are recorded in the HiScores, a score only indicates that the player has recorded kills or completions for that boss, whereas a rank is only assigned once that kill count is high enough relative to other players to place in the rankings. Obtaining a rank typically requires 5 kills, although this is only 1 kill for Tz-Kal Zuk.
History
The boss kill count feature was added to the HiScores on 5 December 2019. The release of the Boss HiScores caused the HiScore pages to become under heavy load, making them load and update slowly. To mitigate this, Jagex initially raised the minimum kill count required for bosses to appear on the HiScores to 50. Following subsequent behind-the-scenes improvements, this requirement was gradually lowered. All bosses and activities now require only 1 kill count to appear.
