Money making guide/Smelting adamantite bars (Superheat Item)

Adamantite bars (1,851) are frequently traded due to their use in smithing adamant equipment. Instead of visiting a furnace to smelt the bars, players with 43 can cast superheat item to smelt ore into bars from anywhere. This costs the usual ore and coal, as well as a nature rune (and four fire runes, but this requirement can be ignored when a staff of fire is wielded). The advantages of using superheat item (instead of a furnace) is that the spell is faster (3 ticks, or about 1.8 seconds) than smelting at a furnace (4 ticks ~ 2.4 seconds) and the player doesn't waste time walking. This allows bars to be produced significantly faster (1300 bars/hour, or up to 1700 bars/hour when using Bryophyta's staff and a Tome of fire), which more than makes up for the cost of the nature runes.

The player still gets the usual 37.5 experience when creating a bar, plus 53 experience as well, making this a profitable way to train both skills.

By equipping Bryophyta's staff and a Tome of fire, players can smelt four adamantite bars at a time. This method allows for up to 1,900 casts per hour. A drawback to this method is that the staff must be recharged approximately every 1,070 casts (or roughly every 34 minutes).

When using only the filter "Show Utility spells" without "Enable icon resizing", if you withdraw 4 adamantite ores first, your mouse doesn't need to move when superheating.

To completely offset the purchase price of the staff, players need to cast the spell 363,707 times. If a player intends to resell the staff, they only need to offset the Grand Exchange tax, which requires 7,275 casts. However, breaking even on the tax alone still takes almost 5 hours of continuous casting.

Because the nature rune takes up an inventory spot, there is only enough space to make three bars per bank. However, with clever organisation, we can minimise the number of banking clicks.

First, carefully withdraw the following quantities of items:

• nature rune (many)
• 9xadamantite ore
• 18xcoal

Cast superheat item on the adamantite ore three times. You now have

• nature rune (many)
• 6xadamantite ore
• 3xadamantite bar

Open the bank and 'Withdraw ALL' coal. This will add 18 coal to your inventory. Don't touch the ore or bars yet!

• nature rune (many)
• 6xadamantite ore
• 3xadamantite bar
• 18xcoal

You now have the supplies to cast superheat item three more times.

• nature rune (many)
• 3xadamantite ore
• 6xadamantite bar

Open the bank and 'Withdraw ALL' coal again. This will add 18 coal to your inventory. Don't touch the ore or bars yet!

• nature rune (many)
• 3xadamantite ore
• 6xadamantite bar
• 18xcoal

You now have the supplies to cast superheat item three more times.

• nature rune (many)
• 9xadamantite bar

Open the bank a third time. 'Withdraw ALL' coal again. This will add 18 coal to your inventory. Now, you can 'Deposit All' (9) bars and 'Withdraw ALL' (9) ore.

• nature rune (many)
• 9xadamantite ore
• 18xcoal

You're now ready to perform the cycle again.
